Little escape in New York

An American setting, a skyline defying the skies and a vibrant city of many faces. New-York is a beacon for the western world and a symbol of the United-States. The ‘Big Apple’ is a unique concentration of modernity, culture, diversity, always inhabited by a rhythm which has come with a label of ‘the city that never sleeps’.

Must-sees are packed on the island of Manhattan with its swarming and noisy streets dominated by skyscrapers of glass and steel. Immerse yourself in Time Square and Fifth Avenue crowds. Treat yourself with an ascent to the Rockfeller Center and its stunning view at the top. Your sight seems to hang to an invisible thread reaching out as far as the Empire State Building and the One World Trade Center, at the other end of the island.

Back down to the streets, jump in a taxi and dash to Downtown. Visit the 9/11 memorial, a symbol for a city that has managed to get back on its feet. Head then to Central Park, the immortal meeting point of New-Yorkers. Make the most of this down time and eat up a hot-dog or a bagel. Close by the park, do not miss some of the world famous museums such as the Guggenheim, the MOMA and the MET.

“Even more off-the wall, nested in between Latinos and Black neighborhoods, a Little Italy is hidden in the heart of the Bronx”

In order not to miss the surprising face of the city, take the metro – the ‘Sub’ – which will carry you everywhere in only a few minutes.

Now we can reach Brooklyn to discover the Jewish district, just south of Williamsburg bridge. Inscriptions in Yiddish cover small shops and buses. Back in Manhattan, Chinatown’s streets accommodate numerous little restaurants. Among them, Nom Wah Tea Parlor is one of the most established. Even more off-the wall, nested in between Latinos and Black neighborhoods, a Little Italy is hidden in the heart of the Bronx. Enjoy an authentic pasta dish at MichaelAngelos before visiting the grocery store Teitelbros, owned and operated by Italians.
